Founding partner of the law firm Borba, Simões Barbosa, Bessone, Cristofaro Advogados, Virgilio has been practicing mining law for over 40 years. With extensive experience in both preventive counseling and litigation, Virgilio had the opportunity to advise practically all major mining houses operating or that operated in the country.
Virgilio’s professional activities include legal advice for the implementation of mining projects on gross root properties; mine construction, development, and expansion; mine closure; acquisition and sale of mining projects; joint ventures for the development of mining projects; environmental permitting of mining projects; conflicts between mining and protected areas; overlapping of mining and other land uses; and participation in multidisciplinary groups for the development of feasibility studies of mining projects.
Based in Rio de Janeiro, he is a member of the Mining Commission of the Brazilian Bar Association - Section Rio de Janeiro (OAB/RJ).
