Practice Areas
A practitioner for close to 30 years, Kizito’s current practice focuses mainly on corporate/commercial and litigation and arbitration. He has been advised a range of clients, both domestic and international, from big multi-nationals to smaller start-up businesses on a wide range of transactions. He continues to represent international aid agencies, multinational and national companies, financial institutions including leading banks in several high-profile litigation in the trial and appellate courts in Ghana in areas including corporate governance, company law, employment, real estate and other commercial contracts.
A lawyer’s lawyer, he has represents the General Legal Council, the body responsible for legal education and licensing of lawyers, in all manner of legal actions. He has represented an international financial institution in respect of its immunity from the judicial processes of the courts of Ghana. He has also previously engaged in litigation before the courts of Ghana concerning the immunity of a South American state and its military asset within Ghana.
With respect to arbitration practice, Kizito has acted both as counsel and sole or co-arbitrator. He was involved as local co-counsel in an ICC arbitration over wrongful termination of an infrastructure contract and as co counsel other international arbitration matters. He has been appointed as sole arbitrator and co-arbitrator in several domestic arbitrations with respect to commercial disputes in Ghana. He has acted
Kizito serves on the Ghana Prisons Service Council as the representative of the Ghana Bar Association and also serves on the Governing Council of the University of Professional Studies, Accra. He is a former member of the Rules of Court Committee, a body set up under the Constitution of Ghana to make rules and regulations for regulation the practice and procedure of all courts in Ghana and specified tribunals and bodies.
