Vijay is a partner with over 17 years experience of industrial disease (mainly asbestos and mesothelioma) and complex injury cases. He has achieved success in difficult cases here and overseas having negotiating settlements for various Australian residents. His most notable success was in Chandler v Cape plc [2012] EWCA 525 CA, a landmark case that set a new precedent in tort and company law for holding parent company liable. He also specialises in child brain injury cases and has obtained successful outcomes in other varied injury cases.
Vijay read law at King's College London and trained as both a barrister and solicitor. He undertook his training contract at Hodge Jones & Allen before joining Leigh Day in 2007.
Vijay is accredited as a Senior Litigator and holds specialist accreditation for Occupational and Asbestos Disease claims with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (‘APIL’). He is also an APIL assessor for other solicitors seeking specialist accreditation. He sits on the Asbestos Sub-Committee in Parliament.
Vijay regularly gives talks at universities, specialist hospital teams and charity support group meetings. He has also written quarterly updates for the Solicitors Journal for over 10 years and now writes for the New Law Journal.
