Board Certified in Health Law, Trent Krienke advises hospitals, physicians, nursing facilities and other health care providers in connection with compliance matters, regulatory and operational issues, and business transactions. Trent represents clients in a wide range of health care transactional matters, such as the purchase and sale of facilities and structuring joint ventures and other arrangements to comply with state and federal statutes and regulations. He has substantial experience with the Texas 1115 Medicaid Transformation Waiver and the Quality Incentive Payment Program for Nursing Homes (QIPP). Trent has also assisted health care providers on issues ranging from Medicare overpayment allegations to disclosures under the Stark Self-Disclosure Protocol.
Career
Represented hospital system in a comprehensive compliance review of all physician arrangements and worked closely with management to negotiate and prepare amended contracts with individual physicians; represented public hospitals and governmental entities in the acquisition over 370 nursing facilities for participation in the Upper Payment Limit (UPL) Supplemental Payment Program, the Nursing Facility Minimum Payment Amount Program (MPAP), and the Quality Incentive Payment Program (QIPP); advised a nonprofit hospital regarding the sale of substantially all assets to a third-party hospital operator and related antitrust issues raised by the Department of Justice; represented hospital authority in the planning, financing, management and construction of a replacement nursing facility; represented hospital district in the formation of a new political subdivision to own and operate a local public hospital; negotiated software license agreement on behalf of hospital system with electronic medical record vendor
