Practice Areas
Tom’s practice is now focussed on non-court dispute resolution, with particular emphasis on his role as an arbitrator under the IFLA Financial Scheme. Alongside his practice as an arbitrator, Tom is also very regularly instructed to act as ‘judge’ within the ‘private-FDR’ process, assisting parties in reaching agreement in the course of financial proceedings at all levels of complexity and value
Tom’s experience at the Bar has centred on the financial side of relationship and family breakdown, including financial remedy claims arising on divorce, claims made on behalf of children under Schedule 1 to the Children Act 1989, proceedings after overseas divorce, domestic and international enforcement, disputes under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996, the creation and interpretation of nuptial agreements and claims under the Inheritance (etc.) Act 1975. Tom’s workload is predominantly centred on financial remedies, cohabitation disputes, pre-nuptial agreements and Schedule 1 claims.
Career
Before coming to the Bar in 2001, Tom graduated from Manchester University with a First Class Honours degree in Philosophy. He undertook his pupillage at 1, Mitre Court Buildings (now 1, Hare Court).
