Practice Areas

Tobias is a chartered governance professional, practising solicitor and director of Elemental CoSec, responsible for the company secretarial, compliance and corporate legal functions, working with a range of UK and international public companies.

As head of the company secretarial team, Tobias oversees the provision of company secretarial support and compliance across thousands of UK entities.

As head of the Economic Crime & Compliance team, Tobias is responsible for Elemental’s role as a verification agent under the UK Register of Overseas Entities and for the provision of Elemental’s identity verification service, Elemental Verify.

Career

Tobias trained and qualified at Linklaters LLP before going on to hold solicitor roles at Macfarlanes LLP, advising on financial regulation in connection with FTSE 100 corporate transactions, and at the Government Legal Service, advising ministers and senior civil servants on environmental regulation and policy.

He later spent over five years at BPP Law School teaching the practical application of company and governance law to future solicitors, initially exclusively for Magic Circle firms and ultimately as Head of the Legal Practice Course.

Tobias joined Elemental CoSec in 2017 as a director, leading the firm's company secretarial, corporate legal, and economic crime & compliance functions. He has since built the firm into a market leader in emerging areas of compliance, including the Register of Overseas Entities, where it holds the number one position by market share and more recently Identity Verification.
