His work is greatly appreciated by his many clients for his ability to achieve full or near-to-full recovery in debt collections and successful exits from restructuring in very difficult cases. He has extensive experience in the area of cross-border insolvency. His expertise covers a wide range of industries including banking, security brokerage, manufacturing, construction, retailing, real estate, hotel, golf resorts and fintech. He is often appointed by the Japanese courts as a trustee in complex bankruptcy cases. Taro is regarded as one of the opinion leaders in the area of secured transactions, and was a member of an official preparatory group for an upcoming reform of the law of security interests in Japan. He frequently speaks at prestigious symposia and conferences, and has published articles that have been frequently cited by leading practitioners and academics in the field of insolvency. He also educates practice of restructuring at Waseda Law School.
