Practice Areas
Susan's main area of practice relates to cases involving children. Since taking silk in 2009 she has spent most of her career involved in complicated High Court cases representing those accused of serious injury or death to children. She has a particular interest in cases involving medical issues around brain injury and FII cases.
In her most recent cases she has represented individuals facing allegations related to honour killing, gang rape of a child, forced marriage and abduction as well as allegations of serial sexual abuse of teenagers.
Whilst much of her work involves fact finding hearings regarding serious issues in public law proceedings, she is experienced in representing clients in the Court of Appeal and also represents those facing allegations in private children law proceedings plus cases involving learning disabled and vulnerable adults, LGBT issues and human rights.
She accepts instructions, both legally aided and privately funded, from all parties to proceedings including Local Authorities and Guardians.
