Public and regulatory law specialist with particular expertise in licensing; Environmental law; public and administrative law; Local Government, Food Law, Health and Safety. Regularly instructed by trade associations, individuals, companies and local authorities in taxi licencing, alcohol and entertainment and all other licensing matters, both at hearings, appeals and advisory work. Recent examples include successfully representing objectors to the renewal of a sexual entertainment venue licence at The Windmill club and Platinum Lace in London, representing the United Cabbie’s Group in their claim for judicial review of the decision to grant Uber its licence and advising a London Borough in respect of a large festival and events licence application. Regularly instructed to appear and advise in judicial reviews in all local government areas and in respect of decisions made by regulators. Much of his regulatory work focuses on food law, animal welfare, health and safety, planning and environmental and trading standards, and includes POCA proceedings. He appears in the criminal courts, in both criminal prosecutions and civil proceedings concerning the serving of notices and licensing, the tribunals, planning inquiries and the High Court.
