Practice Areas
Steven is a dual English and Hong Kong qualified corporate lawyer with a practice focused on shareholder activism, cross-border private and public transactions, capital solutions and corporate insolvency and restructurings. He has over 15 years of experience advising a wide range of investment funds and consortiums on structuring, acquisition, and disposal of equity, equity-linked and debt investments across Europe and APAC.
As a core part of his practice, Steven leads shareholder activism engagements for some of the most prolific and well-known investors in the market, covering stake-building, position disclosures and reporting obligations, trading and exit strategies, private and public proposals, company engagement and shareholder rights. He also advises on the transactional elements of high-profile activist campaigns across Europe and Asia. These investments, which have included various landmark activist situations in the UK, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia and South Korea, span high-profile event and target-driven public campaigns to non-public arbitrage trades where Steven provides advice to clients in respect of both legal and strategic issues concerning their equity investments.
