Stephen is a partner in the Pinsent Masons pensions team with over 25 years’ experience advising on pension schemes. He leads their national team of over 20 pension partners and 50 other lawyers, advising trustees and sponsors on all aspects of pension law and governance.
He’s the longstanding trusted adviser to many ongoing pension schemes, of all shapes and sizes. He has guided trustees along the journey from establishing a scheme through to buy-out and wind-up. Alongside day to day governance advice, specialisms include complex re-organisations and corporate transactions, buy-ins and buy-outs, schemes in challenging situations and helping schemes with their long-term strategic planning, including surplus sharing arrangements. He also has significant experience of regulatory and contentious pension matters, including proceedings before The Pensions Regulator, the Pensions Ombudsman and the courts.
Stephen joined Pinsent Masons in 2002 and became a partner in 2004. He previously worked at what is now Addleshaw Goddard.
