Notable reported cases:
Nolan - v- Iceland Frozen Foods
Liability of a Defendant for the acts of an unknown third party.
Charman -v- Ralston 2015
Acting for the Defendant accused of assault and negligence arising out of road accident. A successful defence of the claim on the grounds of ex turpi causa.
Bailey -v- Barclays Bank -v- LPSL [2021] EWHC 3698 (QB)
Acting for the insurers of a private surgery (LPSL) who were also the proposed Part 20 Defendant in an additional claim issued by Barclays Bank. Bailey issued proceedings against Barclays and LPSL but did not serve LPSL. Barclays subsequently issued an additional claim against LPSL, and issues arose because LPSL were not served with the original claim. The Court held that where a claim form is issued by a Claimant against more than one Defendant but is not served on one of the Defendants, and time for service of the Claim expires without service on that Defendant, the Defendant who was served must use CPR 20.7 if it wishes to commence any Part 20 Claim against the non-served Defendant. A novel point decided in favour of our client.

I deal mainly with Serious Claimant Personal Injury litigation but also to a lesser extent with some Multi-Track Defendant litigation.
My cases are a mixture of catastrophic injury claims resulting from road traffic accidents including motor, pedestrian, cycle and motor-cycle accidents, as well as public liability and employer liability claims. I have cases ranging in value from catastrophic 7 figure settlement cases to lesser value multi-track including the majority 6 figure and/or other complex liability and quantum cases.
I am committed to providing the best possible client care for each of my clients, including taking time to listen to my clients so I can provide appropriate advice tailored to their individual needs and requirements, in order to ensure that I act in their best interests, from the outset of the instruction to the conclusion of the case, to achieve the best outcomes for my client.
I focus upon the practical steps I can take to help my clients and families on their journey through the claims process, including obtaining interim payments and securing the treatment and rehabilitation they need, as and when they need it.
I encourage close, regular client liaison throughout the claims process, including regular physical attendances from an early stage with the client in hospital and at home.
I have built up excellent connections, over many years, with high quality medical and other experts and specialist Counsel.
