Sebastián Herrera

Environment and Infrastructure.

Sebastián Herrera is a partner and head of the Environment practice at Lathrop Mujica Herrera & Diez Abogados. He makes a material difference to the team by leading the mandates that require strategic judgment and tight execution, especially where SEIA pathway, permitting design and regulatory exposure are decisive for the client’s business decision.

He has been at the centre of the practice’s step-up in complexity, leading core workstreams for key clients in energy, mining and infrastructure. He also leds Sitios Prioritarios and biodiversity strategy for strategic land and infrastructure clients, including technically robust public consultation submissions and preparation for potential litigation, when required. He has handled mandates where SEIA entry strategy and community-driven litigation run in parallel.

Sebastián brings public-sector experience that is directly relevant to permitting and regulatory strategy. He held senior roles at the Ministry of Energy (including as SEREMI for the Metropolitan Region) and led the Sustainable Development Division at the Ministry of Mining. He is also a lecturer in Environmental, Mining and Water Law at Universidad Finis Terrae, which keeps him closely engaged with current regulation and case law.
