Sean O'Brien

Sean M. O'Brien is an attorney in Holland & Knight's Boston office and serves as co-chair of the firm's Real Estate Finance Team. Mr. O'Brien has practiced real estate law with a focus on real estate finance for over 20 years. He represents lenders, borrowers, investors and servicers in all aspects of commercial real estate finance, from loan originations and loan sales, to enforcements, workouts and restructurings. Mr. O'Brien offers clients in-depth knowledge tempered by experience, helping clients to efficiently achieve their business goals.

During his career, Mr. O'Brien has worked on an array of finance transactions involving properties around the country, including construction, acquisition, permanent, bridge and mezzanine financings, loan syndications, participations and sales, and preferred equity investments. He has devoted a significant amount of time to counseling clients in loan workouts, restructurings, foreclosures and deeds in lieu of foreclosure. Many of the transactions that Mr. O'Brien has worked on were securitized in the capital markets.

Mr. O'Brien has helped clients establish lending platforms, which involved the preparation of loan documents, the establishment of policies and procedures and, in some cases, the utilization of project management tools. He also prepared form construction loan documents for a national bank's commercial lending program and served as its lead documentation counsel.
