Scott acts for international and domestic corporates, commodity traders, funds and individuals of influence. His client base is concentrated in energy and resources, engineering and mining services, life sciences and technology. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Geology) alongside his law degree, giving him direct technical understanding of the resources sector.
Scott advises on mergers and acquisitions (public and private), IPOs, secondary capital raisings, ASX Listing Rules compliance, asset and tenement acquisitions, joint ventures and FIRB matters. He also has significant experience in shareholder activism, having led a substantial number of successful shareholder requisitioned meetings and Takeovers Panel applications.
Scott's geology background gives him technical grounding in the resources sector that is rare among corporate lawyers and directly informs his work on tenement acquisitions, joint ventures and resources transactions. His shareholder activism experience, including Takeovers Panel applications, adds a contested transactions dimension to his practice.

Piedmont Lithium Inc - Advising US and ASX-listed lithium miner Piedmont Lithium on all aspects of its A$890 million all-stock merger with fellow lithium miner Sayona Mining and an associated A$80 million capital raising.
Fortescue Ltd - Acting for ASX-listed Fortescue Ltd, the fourth largest iron ore miner in the world, on its acquisition of Red Hawk Mining Ltd for A$254 million.
Genesis Minerals Ltd - Advising gold miner Genesis Minerals on its acquisition of the Gwalia gold mine in Western Australia from fellow miner St Barbara for A$628 million and on a A$470 million capital raising by Genesis to fund the acquisition.
