Career

Schuyler is Executive Director of the Alabama Pulp and Paper Council (APPCO) within the Manufacture Alabama organization. Prior to joining Burr & Forman, she served as Executive Counsel to the Director of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) and legislative liaison for the agency. She held the role of Associate General Counsel with ADEM’s Office of General Counsel from 2007 to 2018.

Schuyler counsels clients on permitting and compliance under various environmental statutes and regulations for the construction and operation of facilities (e.g., construction stormwater management; operational permits for wastewater discharges, air emissions, and waste disposal; wetlands assessment and mitigation). She is experienced in administrative and judicial environmental enforcement proceedings. She also advises clients on environmental aspects of corporate and real estate transactions, including environmental due diligence, permit transfer requirements, and brownfields assessments.

Schuyler is a contributing author to the firm’s Environmental Law Matters Blog providing news and tips to clients on environmental matters.

Following law school, Schuyler clerked for Circuit Judge William Shashy in the 15th Judicial Circuit of Alabama.
