Sara Barin

Practice Areas

Sara is a senior associate in Freshfields’ London Energy, Transport and Infrastructure team. She has delivered major global projects, with a particular focus on infrastructure and mining matters. She acts for project sponsors and lenders, and has extensive experience dealing with IFIs and multi-sourced lending. Sara has led transactions across CEE/CIS, Middle East and Central Asia, and her practice includes multiple award-winning transactions in Turkey (her home country). She also leads the initiatives of the Freshfields Turkey group.

Career

Qualified in New York, the UK and Turkey. Sara started practicing in 2007, and joined Freshfields in 2014.

She has recently built on her mining sector experience with a 9 month secondment at Rio Tinto, focusing on negotiations with the Mongolian government on the Oyu Tolgoi Mine, which is to become one of the world’s largest copper projects. She has previously held an in-house position at European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London, and started her career in the Herguner Bilgen Ozeke Law Firm in Istanbul.
