Rosanne McNeil

Rosanne is a Principal Associate in the Regulatory team based in Manchester, but represents clients nationally. Rosanne specialises in advising individual, public sector, corporate, and insurer clients in respect of criminal and regulatory investigations following serious health and safety incidents.

Health & Safety

She represents clients facing investigation and prosecution for regulatory and criminal offences including motor crime, health and safety, neglect, and gross negligence/corporate manslaughter. Rosanne is currently involved in a number of high-profile health and safety investigations and prosecutions which are attracting national media attention. She is a member of the Health and Safety Lawyers Association. Notable cases include:

• Advising a sports club in relation to an EHO investigation following a fatal accident at a national sporting event;

• Advising a Local Authority in respect of police and HSE investigations following a fatal accident on a construction site; and

• Advising a prosecuting authority in respect of its investigation following a fatal accident at a hotel.

• Advising several individuals being prosecuted for gross negligence manslaughter in connection with fatal health and safety incidents.

Inquests

Rosanne also regularly acts on behalf of Interested Persons in respect of complex Article 2 and jury inquests. She has a special interest in representing the emergency services and is a go-to lawyer for a number of police forces. Notable cases include:

• Representing an Interested Person at an inquest into the death of a scout at the Great Orme

• Representing a primary school at an inquest into the death of a pupil following anaphylaxis

• Representing a police force in relation to a death in custody under restraint

• Representing a police force in a high-profile homicide investigation relating to a child

Rosanne is recognised as a go-to lawyer for Public Inquiries. Notable cases include:

• Representing Greater Manchester Combined Authority (Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service) as Core Participant in the Manchester Arena Inquiry;
