Robert Smith

Mr. Smith is a partner at Hawkins Delafield & Wood LLP and a member of the firm's Management Committee. He concentrates his practice on public finance, advising municipalities, public authorities, public benefit corporations and other governmental entities on a broad range of financing matters.

With nearly 30 years of experience in municipal finance, Mr. Smith regularly serves as bond counsel in tax-exempt and taxable financings and represents underwriters in public finance transactions throughout New York State. He has extensive experience advising issuers and financing participants on municipal securities matters, financing structures and related regulatory issues.

Mr. Smith is active in the public finance community and serves on the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association's Local and State Government Law Section. He is also a member of the Board of Governors of the New York State Government Finance Officers Association and co-chair of its Legal and Legislative Committee. He is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers and has been recognized by government finance organizations for his contributions to the public finance profession.
