Career
Robert Pelikán is a recognised litigation and arbitration lawyer in the Czech Republic. He has held a number of key decision-making positions in the past decade, including serving as the Minister of Justice of the Czech Republic in 2015-2018. His clients include household names from the energy, engineering, and manufacturing industries, as well as major financial institutions such as Liberty Ostrava, Wikov MGI, Sandoz and Wiener Privatbank.
Robert has been serving on the Panel of Arbitrators of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, representing the Czech Republic in numerous arbitration proceedings under major arbitration rules including ICC, VIAC or UNCITRAL. He is also an arbitrator at the Arbitration Court of the Czech Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Arbitration Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic.
Robert has authored and co-authored many books and articles, much cited Civil Code commentary, as well as textbooks on corporate law. He has taught civil, corporate and competition law at the Charles University, Faculty of Law since 2004 and been a lecturer at the Czech Judicial Academy. Robert also regularly provides specialist training to Czech judges, combining his academic expertise and business insights. He is also a member of the Czech Government's Legislative Council, where he advises the government on new legislative projects.
