Robert Blaustein is a partner in the Investment Funds Group of Kirkland & Ellis and recognized as a global leader in the field of sponsor-side advisory work, with a particular emphasis on private equity. Robert focuses his practice on advising asset managers and investment firms on all aspects of their business including the formation, marketing and management of investment products, the launching of new business lines, GP-level stakes sales and financing transactions, GP-led secondaries, succession planning and compensation arrangements, and other strategic investments and transactions, as well as operational, legal and regulatory issues. Additionally, Robert has worked with multiple sponsors on SPAC-related transactions in multiple capacities, including the sale of an asset manager to a SPAC and the formation of SPAC sponsor entities. He has counseled sponsors on a variety of complex and unique issues, while helping clients raise funds totaling approximately $100 billion in capital and advising both sponsors and limited partners on spinout transactions, seed investments and asset manager M&A transactions. Robert also routinely works with senior leadership on key firm level issues including succession planning, carry plan structuring and corporate governance matters. Client engagements have included fund formations ranging from $100 million to well in excess of $15 billion, and have included PE, hedge, BDCs, real estate and credit funds.
