Richard Laignel

Richard is a partner and an experienced private wealth specialist advising professional trustees, family offices, intermediaries and high-net worth families, together with their onshore advisers in the UK, Switzerland and elsewhere.

Richard offers advice on all aspects of Jersey trusts, foundations, and estate planning, including philanthropic structuring through trusts, foundations, private trust companies, and other corporate vehicles, as well as related company and commercial law matters.

In addition, Richard advises alongside Ogier's investment funds on the establishment of private wealth structures focused on a collective investment approach. He also assists trustees, employers and other professionals on a wide range of Jersey employee benefit and pension related matters.

Richard frequently advises on the creation and restructuring of trusts with a Middle Eastern influence and has extensive experience in Sharia-compliant drafting.

As a member of Ogier's Trusts Advisory Group, Richard regularly collaborates with his Dispute Resolution colleagues on both contentious and semi-contentious issues. He also often supports other colleagues across the firm with transactional corporate or finance work, providing insights from a trust perspective.

Richard is an Advocate of the Royal Court of Jersey and an English Solicitor. He is recognised as a Key Lawyer by Legal 500, peer-nominated in the Private Client Global Elite Directory and has been named as Senior / Managing Associate of the Year (Gold) on the Citywealth Future Leaders List.
