Career
Pierpaolo Cruz Bottini has been an Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Law, Criminology and Forensic Medicine of the Law School (São Paulo University), with master's and doctorate degree in the same University (Criminal Law), and has coordinated the Criminal Law course of the Institute of Public Law (Brasília – DF). He has been director of Economic Criminal Law of the Brazilian Institute of Criminal Sciences, director of the International Criminal Law Association - Brazilian section, member of the Awards Committee of Innovare Award. He was in charge of the Judiciary Reform Office of the Ministry of Justice (2005-2007) and of the Department of Judiciary Modernization of the same body (2003-2005). He was regular member of the National Council of the Criminal and Penitentiary Policy and advisor of Ford Foundation in a project to improve the Brazilian judicial system. Author of books “Lavagem de Dinheiro - Money Laundering” (with Gustavo Henrique Badaró, São Paulo, RT, 2012), “Crimes de perigo abstrato e princípio da precaução na sociedade de risco - Abstract danger crimes and precautionary principle in the risk society” (São Paulo, RT, 2008), “Crimes de Omissão Imprópria - Crimes of Improper Omission” (São Paulo, Marcial Pons, 2019), and coordinated the works “Colaboração Premiada - Brazilian Plea Bargaining” (with Maria Thereza de Assis Moura, RT, 2017), “Reforma do Judiciário - Judiciary Reform” (with Sérgio Renault), “Direito Penal Contemporâneo - Contemporary Criminal Law” (with Gilmar Mendes and Eugênio Pacelli) and “Nova execução de títulos judiciais - New execution of legal proceedings” (with Sérgio Renault). He is author of articles and publications.
