Philip Wong is the Managing Partner and Head of Commercial Department of Gallant. He graduated from the University of Hong Kong with Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) in 1991 and Master of Laws in 1994, and was admitted as a solicitor of Hong Kong in 1994 and as a solicitor of England and Wales (non-practising) in 1995. Philip is also a China-Appointed Attesting Officer, a Notary Public, a Certified Tax Advisor of Hong Kong and an Arbitrator of Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration. He advised many large corporations and financial institutions on matters relating to finance, securities, trust, mergers and acquisitions and other cross-border transactions. Philip is retained by a large number of banks, trustee companies and securities companies in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Macau as their annual legal advisor. Apart from Chambers And Partners, he is routinely recognized and recommended in various authoritative international legal rating agencies such as “Asialaw”, “IFLR1000”, “China Business Law Journal” and “The Legal 500”. Among other things, he has been recognized for years as an “Asialaw Distinguished Practitioner” in the practice areas of Banking and Finance and Corporate and M&A in the Asialaw, a “Highly Regarded Lawyer” in the practice areas of Banking and M&A in the IFLR1000, and “The Visionary A-List Lawyer” in the China Business Law Journal.
