Phil is a Partner and head of our Rural Land & Business team.
He specialises in Scottish land law and countryside matters, providing legal advice to individuals, rural businesses and Banks on property law, agricultural tenancies & farming partnerships, diversification projects and succession planning for the next generation.
Phil adds value by getting to know his clients and understanding the complexities and particular needs of rural businesses, which can be involved in a broad range of commercial activities such as agriculture, forestry, clean energy & natural resources or tourism.
Phil acts in the acquisition or disposal of Scottish properties such as landed estates, farms, forests, salmon fishings, country houses and house plots. He also advises on the legal aspects of ongoing land management including access, water and drainage rights, utilities, boundaries and land registration, residential tenancies and salmon fishing and sporting rights.
