Head of BMA’s IP litigation team, partner Pedro Frankovsky Barroso has extensive experience in complex litigation involving patents, trademarks, industrial designs, copyright and unfair competition.
Barroso represents clients in all areas of intellectual property, from patents and trademarks to industrial designs and copyright. He also acts in unfair competition cases, especially in matters related to trade dress and trade secrets.
Regarding patent litigation, Barroso has a large experience in validity and infringement cases before the Brazilian courts related to the pharmaceutical industry, agriculture and engineering. He also represents clients in litigations involving discussions on standard essential patents.
Although his practice focuses on litigation in the courts, Barroso also assists clients with trademark prosecution before the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office and advises on contracts related to transfer of technology, assignment and licensing of IP rights, and other matters involving the protection of intangible assets.
