Nicolás Piaggio

Practice Areas

Nicolás Piaggio is Co-Chair of the Firm. He works mainly in the Banking and Corporate Department. His experience includes the participation in financing transactions and debt restructurings, sovereign debt transactions (including a direct participation in the several Uruguayan successful multi-billion sovereign debt exchanges), public and private securities' offers, corporate work specializing in complex mergers and acquisitions.

Career

Master in Corporate Law at the University of Montevideo (2000). Linklaters - New York (September 1997 - November 1998). Professor of Banking and Securities Regulations at the Universidad de Montevideo.

Ranked by Chambers and Partners in Band 1 in the “Banking and Finance” sector and also in Band 1 in the “Corporate” sector.

Nicolas has led the issuance of the first-ever sustainability-linked bond in our country. This deal was awarded as Deal of the Year by IFLR in the 2023 IFLR Americas Awards.

Recognised among prestigious international legal publications such as “PLC Which Lawyer”, “Latin Lawyer”, “Who´s Who Legal” for his outstanding performance in Banking & Finance, Corporate and M&A matters. Nicolás has been distinguished as LACCA Thought Leader 2023.

Co-Chair of the Corporate and M&A Committee of the International Bar Association for the period 2023-2024.
