After 27 years at the helm as Kennedys’ Senior Partner, Nick stood down from this role in January 2025.
Nick remains a partner and a member of the firm’s Executive Group.
He trained with Kennedys and qualified in 1980 in England and Wales and is also qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong, Northern Ireland and in the Republic of Ireland, and is a Chartered Arbitrator and an accredited mediator.
Nick represents (re)insurers in relation to major losses in the UK and Ireland, continental Europe, Asia, Middle East and Latin America, liaising with our network of international offices. Nick is also a member of our Caribbean practice team.
He specialises in insurance and reinsurance including commercial property claims particularly arising from incidents overseas (Middle East, India, Far East and the Americas) including political risk; energy and power generation claims, both onshore and offshore; property/business interruption, Construction All Risks, Erection All Risks and Delay in Start Up. In addition, he also advises on professional indemnity disputes for construction professionals.
Nick handles some of the largest energy losses in The London Market and Latin America with often with reserves of USD$1billion. He handled the Heathrow Express Tunnel Collapse and he co-ordinated the liability proceedings for a market of over twenty insurers with claims totalling over £1bn arising out of the explosion at the Buncefield Oil Depot in Hertfordshire.
