Nicholas acts predominantly for Claimants in all areas of Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury Litigation. He has experience in handling, and successfully settling or taking to trial, claims where the injured party has sustained life-changing injuries.
As part of his growing practice, Nicholas is regularly instructed as junior counsel on complex high-value cases requiring a silk and junior counsel.
Nicholas regularly deals with litigation concerning profound brain injuries and spinal cord injuries resulting in paralysis.

B and Others v University Hospitals of Birmingham NHSFT. Nicholas is currently instructed in a number of cases concerning poor outcomes from brain surgery procedures to treat Parkinson’s disease. The cases have received national media attention.
In 2022 Nicholas helped secure over £1.2m in damages following a undiagnosed pulmonary embolism.
In 2022 Nicholas has represented the interests of two families in separate inquest proceedings touching on the deaths of loved ones who died following the administration of Covid-19 vaccines. The inquests received national and international media attention.
AS v An Ambulance Service & Others. Nicholas represented a family at an inquest concerning the passing of a family member due to delay in treatment being afforded. The coroner returned a verdict of neglect contributing to the death. Nicholas represented the family in subsequently successful civil litigation.
AM v Dr B. Successful in the representation of the family whose husband/ father had been overprescribed pain medications resulting in his death. Liability was contested and the matter settled at a JSM. The claim involved significant dependency claims for the Deceased’s wife and young children.
MB v CD. Successful in the representation of a Claimant who sustained a facial injury permanently impairing his vision. Causation and quantum were contested and the Defendant relied on surveillance footage.
Deacon v Bourne Leisure. Successful in multi-track trial for injured Claimant who sustained serious injuries on a Waltzer ride. Liability was denied in full.
EB v University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHSFT. Nicholas acted for the Claimant, a highly regarded solicitor and Partner in her firm, who sustained injury during the birth of her daughter.
SM v Dr D.K. Nicholas acted for the Claimant in respect of negligently performed cardiomyotomy surgery in a private hospital environment leading to life-long medical complications.
