Nicholas Poynder

Originally a student of history graduating from Cambridge University, Nick began his career in HFW London in 2001 and moved to Shanghai in 2006 as Chief Representative of HFW Shanghai. In 2026, he joined Wintell as a Foreign Consultant.

Nick has long specialised in international shipping and trade disputes. His clients include leading shipowners, shipbuilders, operators, traders and leasing companies in China. Prior to joining Wintell, he frequently acted on the instructions from local PRC law firms. He was also the founding member of HFW’s association in the Shanghai FTZ with Wintell & Co in 2016.

Nick frequently represents clients in arbitrations in London, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia, and has acted in numerous cases before the commercial courts in London.
