Neil Beadle has particular expertise in defence of investigations and prosecutions by regulators, maritime law and insurance policy drafting.
Neil has particular expertise in the defence of Health & Safety and Resource Management Act prosecutions. He has argued a number of cases under the new Health and Safety at Work Act 2015. He has resolved investigations short of prosecution, including the negotiation with WorkSafe of Enforceable Undertakings. Where charges are laid he has successfully defended at trial. Where a guilty plea is appropriate, he assists clients to achieve the best outcome in those circumstances. He has dealt with a number of cases involving serious injury and fatalities.
He has also led the insurance team in a number of important maritime law cases, succeeding in the Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court. He is the Immediate Past President of the Maritime Law Association of Australia & New Zealand (MLAANZ) and a member of the New Zealand Branch Committee.
Neil is also experienced in reviewing and drafting policy wordings for insurer clients.
