Miles Ehrlich is a former federal prosecutor, seasoned trial lawyer, and white-collar specialist who focuses on criminal and regulatory enforcement actions, grand jury investigations, internal corporate inquiries, shareholder derivative lawsuits, and complex commercial litigation.
Miles has nearly three decades of experience as a courtroom advocate in many of the highest-profile federal criminal and SEC enforcement cases brought in the country over the last thirty years. A former Chief of the White-Collar Crime Section in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in San Francisco, Miles, along with his co-founder Ismail Ramsey, led the premier boutique criminal defense firm Ramsey & Ehrlich LLP for more than 17 years.
Miles has been recognized by Chambers as being “renowned for representing clients from the technology, financial services and healthcare sectors across the country,” and praised for bringing a “wealth of experience” and his ability “to accomplish amazing things” in defense of his clients.
Miles has expertise in handling high-stakes cases involving major financial frauds, securities and investment fraud, trade secret theft, crypto enforcement, antitrust price-fixing and bid-rigging, insider trading, pharmaceutical and medical device “off-label” marketing and promotion, foreign corrupt practices act (FCPA) violations, environmental offenses, public corruption, health care fraud, tax evasion, and obstruction of justice.
Miles received his J.D. from Stanford Law School, where he graduated first in his class, was elected to the Order of the Coif, and served as an Articles Editor on the Stanford Law Review. He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College, graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
Before becoming a federal prosecutor, Miles served as a law clerk to United States Supreme Court Justice Anthony M. Kennedy and to Judge William A. Norris on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Before becoming an attorney, Miles worked as a Legislative Assistant to Congressman (now-Senator) Charles E. Schumer of New York.
