Michelle Virgiany is a Herbert Smith Freehills Of Counsel on secondment as senior international counsel at Hiswara Bunjamin & Tandjung. She focuses on the financial services and technology sectors, with expertise in both transactional and advisory work. Michelle advises clients in the digital economy sector on investment structuring, licensing, and roll-out of new business models. She also represents clients in fundraising, joint ventures, M&A, as well as business collaboration arrangements. She is a member of Herbert Smith Freehills’ Digital Law Group, a global team of lawyers working on the firm’s and its clients’ digital transformation efforts.
Career
Michelle graduated from the National University of Singapore. Prior to joining Herbert Smith Freehills and HBT, she worked in the Singapore office of another international firm, representing banks and other clients in cross-border and multi-jurisdictional commercial disputes. She also worked at the Singapore and Jakarta offices of an international investment bank, providing advice on bilateral and syndicated lending, data privacy and outsourcing, and corporate banking product roll-outs across APAC. Michelle is fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
