Michelle I. Deveaux is a partner at McKinney, Bancroft & Hughes specialising in civil, commercial and trust litigation and chairs the firm’s Competition Law Practice Group. She also represents the single Competition Law regulator in The Bahamas in respect to regulatory affairs and public law challenges.
Michelle regularly represents and advises high net worth individuals, institutional fiduciaries, banks and corporate clients on trust and estate administration matters as well as insurance and property disputes inclusive of cross-border litigation.
Career
Michelle’s academic background and multi-jurisdictional experience is extensive. She completed her Bachelor of Laws, LLB at the University of Guyana in 1999, and obtained her Legal Education Certificate, LEC at Sir Hugh Wooding Law School in 2001. She also obtained her Master of Laws Corporate and Commercial Law, LL.M from the University of the West Indies in 2006. Michelle was called to the Bar in Guyana, Barbados, the British Virgin Islands and The Bahamas in 2001, 2004, 2005, and 2023 respectively.
