Michael Sharkey represents policyholders in insurance coverage disputes nationwide. He has obtained significant recoveries for his clients under a wide range of coverages, including under liability policies for alleged products liability, environmental contamination, directors and officers liability, asbestos bodily injury and property damage, trademark infringement, and defamation. He also has recovered under first-party policies for property damage and business interruption from fires, mudslides, structural collapse, equipment breakdown, and other disasters. As counsel to policyholders, Michael has participated in all phases of litigation and has briefed and argued precedent setting appeals to state supreme courts and state and federal appellate courts.

In addition to his litigation work, Michael also advises clients on the scope of insurance coverage under their existing or proposed policies, suggesting possible improvements to seek at renewal. He also counsels clients proactively on the drafting and interplay of insurance and indemnification provisions in contracts, including construction contracts, supplier and service agreements, and corporate transactions. He has extensive experience negotiating Representations and Warranty insurance policies in connection with corporate transactions, and handling claims under such policies.
