Mike Miller is a highly experienced trial lawyer and appellate advocate. He represents clients from the United States and abroad in white-collar criminal investigations and prosecutions, internal investigations, commercial litigation, securities arbitrations, professional liability disputes, and employment litigation. Mike’s clients include organizations and individuals in the financial, insurance, high tech, pharmaceutical, energy, and construction markets, as well as the higher education, entertainment and not-for-profit sectors. He also represents lawyers and law firms in professional liability proceedings.

In May 2023, the Supreme Court of the United States issued an opinion in favor of Mike’s client, Dr. Alain Kaloyeros, finding that the "right to control" theory of wire fraud, on which the government had relied in its prosecution of Dr. Kaloyeros and his co-defendants, is invalid. Mike has also secured defense acquittals in white-collar criminal cases involving charges of fraud and embezzlement, and client verdicts in commercial litigation trials and securities arbitration hearings. He earned Top Litigator of the Week honors from AmLaw Litigation Daily for winning a $60 million award in one of his securities arbitrations. Mike also works closely with clients to evaluate and execute on efficient strategies that do not involve litigation, including effective use of mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.

Mike has served Steptoe as a member of the firm's Executive, Compensation and Nominating Committees, and as the New York Office Managing Partner.
