Michael is a highly experienced personal injury practitioner.
Michael has been involved in some of the highest profile Public Law cases in Wales. He has acted for a number of campaign groups fighting service closures such as schools, hospitals, libraries etc. He has acted for victim organisations and individuals in challenges involving education, health and welfare. Michael has considerable experience in inquests in the Coroners Court and Public Inquiries. He heads the team acting for the majority of Welsh and Northern Irish victims in the ongoing UK Infected Blood Inquiry.
In Personal Injury Law, Michael has acted for several Trade Unions and has been involved in a number of reported cases involving fatal accidents, industrial disease and travel law.
Career
Qualified in 1990, managing partner Cardiff Office Russell Jones & Walker 1997 – 2011. Partner (now Director) Watkins and Gunn 2015 to date.
Professional Memberships
Michael is a member of the APIL Executive, Committee member of Public Law Wales, a member of Law Society Human Rights Committee, former President Cardiff Law Society, and a visiting scholar at Swansea University.
Personal
Married and lives in Cardiff. Long suffering Newport County FC supporter, enjoys county walking, history books and documentaries.
