Michael Hopp is a partner and head of Plesner's Data Protection Law team.

Michael is a leading specialist in data protection law, and he was one of the first lawyers in Denmark to specialise within this area. He has built up a unique market-leading personal data team at Plesner.

Michael has worked extensively in the area of data protection law since 2000, and he has acquired broad and in-depth experience with respect to data protection law issues. Michael is widely recognised as a leading Danish advisor in the field.

Michael advises some of the most important Danish and multinational companies across industries on all aspects of data protection law, including data security, international data transfers, risk assessments, whistleblower hotlines and security breaches. Michael has handled several security breaches and as a consequence he also has thorough experience of crisis management.

Michael is globally recognised for his data protection law expertise and is placed at the top of his field in several international ranking lists. As the only attorney in Denmark, Michael is recognised as a Global Elite Thought Leader in the global ranking list Who's Who Legal ("WWL") in terms of data protection law, which emphasises his advisory skills when it comes to solving complex regulatory issues.

Michael is in demand among clients for his advice in relation to GDPR and the consequences of the regulation of private businesses and public authorities. Michael has an extensive network of both national and international contacts, and he uses his network actively for knowledge sharing and when solving specific tasks for clients.

Due to on his long-standing experience with respect to personal data law and data protection, Michael has been involved in launching several innovative initiatives in the industry. Michael is in charge of Plesner's GDPR Master Class and Plesner's 5-day course "Plesner Certificate in Data Protection" which together have been taken by more than 1,100 persons. In addition, Michael was involved in launching the popular compliance software RISMAgdpr and Plesner's GDPR e-learning programme and he most recently initiated Plesner's digital knowledge platform "Plesner LegalHub".

Michael has extensive lecturing experience and he has deep knowledge of the challenges faced by businesses and authorities as well as extensive experience in how best to solve such challenges.

Michael has in-depth knowledge of data-driven marketing and particularly the commercial gains to be made from using data-driven marketing. Michael provides value-adding advice, particularly with respect to the dynamic interpretation of legislation relating to the diffusion of new technologies.
