Matt Hjortsberg has spent nearly 30 years representing clients in complex construction and commercial disputes. He concentrates his practice on advising commercial contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, owners, private companies, and officers and directors in matters involving construction delay, impact, disruption, payment, mechanic’s lien, and defect claims.
Matt has handled disputes arising from a wide range of projects, including energy infrastructure, renewable energy, data centers, manufacturing facilities, and federal, state, and local government projects. His recent matters have included contract claims, bid protests, partnership disputes, and derivative actions.
He regularly represents clients in arbitration, mediation, litigation, and administrative proceedings, including in state and federal courts and before the Maryland State Board of Contract Appeals, the District of Columbia Contract Appeals Board, and the Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals. Across all forums, Matt is known for his clear and persuasive articulation of complex issues and his ability to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
