Matt Foster is a corporate partner in our financial institutions team in London. He has more than 15 years' experience advising clients on transactions in the banks and insurance sector.

Matt's practice focuses on advising blue-chip clients and other financial investors on M&A, joint ventures, restructuring and other significant corporate transactions in these sectors across the UK, Europe and Africa.

Matt is ranked by Chambers UK as a leading individual in its Insurance: Non-contentious category and is recognised by Legal 500 UK as a "Next Generation Lawyer". Chambers UK 2024 states that he "is well regarded for his adept handling of corporate insurance transactions, including M&A and portfolio transfers" and quotes an impressed client as saying that "Matthew Foster is very tuned in with the industry. His availability is very good and he is technically sound."

As well as advising clients on their own transactions, Matt also advises clients on regulatory insurance issues and leads our Global W&I Group which assists clients such as AIG, Euclid, Liberty GTR, AXA and QBE on W&I matters. Matt is a regular commentator on W&I matters and on UK and European M&A trends more generally.
