Professor Matteo Benozzo has an outstanding professional experience in the fields of environmental and H&S law. Matteo is mostly expert in waste management, remediation of polluted sites, environmental damage, all administrative and environmental law issues and renewable energies. As to H&S law Matteo assists and supports clients in all the legal matters related to the field.
Career
Matteo is one of the founding partners of B-HSE law firm, specialized in environmental, H&S, food, compliance and criminal law. He is also Assistant Professor and Tenured Researcher of Law at the University of Macerata, where he teaches Environmental Law. Professor Benozzo has been Visiting Faculty at the Columbia Law School of New York (NY-USA) since 1999 and at the School of Law of the University of California, Los Angeles (CA-USA). Matteo is further author of several publications including books, papers, essays and articles.
Professional Memberships
Currently Matteo is a member of the “Gruppo di Lavoro Area 8 Riqualificazioni Ambientali” created by the National Geologist Council. The scope of the group’s activities is to deepen topics such as decontamination, environmental remediation, waste and landfills. Lastly, Matteo is a member of the Ministry’s of health panel of experts specialized in waste management, water, air and soil pollution.

Matteo Benozzo is the author of numerous publications, including books, essays and articles, focusing on environmental law, sustainability, biodiversity and agri-food regulation. His principal works include the Treaty on Environmental Law, co-authored with Francesco Bruno, a comprehensive and methodical analysis of environmental law across national, European and international sources, enriched by case law and practical interpretative guidance. He has also authored Agri-food Biotechnology and New Genetic Improvement Techniques between the European Union and the United States, and co-authored Commentary on the Environmental Code, Appropriate Assessment: the Protection of Biodiversity between EU, National, and Regional Law, and Environmental Legislation.
