Mr. Balmaceda specializes in compliance and criminal litigation, with extensive experience in the design and implementation of crime prevention models, which have been applied in more than 150 companies across diverse economic sectors. Earlier in his career, he served as a Public Defender.
He has an outstanding academic trajectory, having taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses on Criminal Procedure, Criminal Law, Litigation, and Compliance at some of the country’s leading universities, including Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Universidad de Chile, Universidad Finis Terrae, Universidad Mayor, Universidad Austral de Valdivia, among others.
Mr. Balmaceda is a recognized opinion leader on compliance and economic crimes for the media, and he systematically participates in conferences, forums, and discussion panels on his areas of expertise. He is co-author of the publication “New Statute on Economic Crimes in Chile – Law 21.595 – 2023” together with BCP partners Francisco Cox and Juan Ignacio Piña.
He has been recognized by prestigious international legal rankings such as The Legal 500, Chambers and Partners, and Leaders League in the areas of compliance and white-collar crime. Notably, he was distinguished as Lawyer of the Year in Compliance by The Legal 500 in both 2023 and 2024 version.
