Mark is a highly regarded defence counsel with significant experience of all aspects of common law and regulatory crime, including environmental, financial and corporate crime. He has particular experience of prosecutions brought under the provisions of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and of cases brought under sections 1, 2B and 3A of the Road Traffic Act 1988.
His clients have included large corporate organisations, professional associations, public bodies, lay individuals and professional persons, including teachers, lawyers, doctors and police officers, often acting on the instructions of agents appointed by professional bodies. His experience in the High Court has been acquired both as Senior Crown Counsel and defence counsel.
In addition, Mark has significant experience in the conduct of statutory inquiries and is regularly instructed in large scale Fatal Accident Inquiries.
Mark is qualified as a Barrister in England (Middle Temple) and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb). He has held a commission as a temporary High Court judge and continues to sit as a part-time Sheriff.
