Mario Gall heads EY Law Austria’s M&A and Capital Markets practices and is widely recognised for his expertise in national as well as cross border transactions, public takeover law and capital markets regulation. He consistently leads high value, multi-jurisdictional M&A and capital markets mandates that require the coordination of interdisciplinary legal workstreams across corporate, regulatory, financial and commercial areas.
He advises listed companies, institutional investors and multinational groups on large scale acquisitions, joint ventures and restructurings. He combines deep transactional experience with extensive regulatory insight, enabling clients to navigate sophisticated deal structures, multi-regime compliance requirements and complex capital markets frameworks. Clients value his ability to deliver legally secure, commercially sound and strategically aligned solutions in high stakes environments.
Mario has been a Partner at EY Law – Pelzmann Gall Größ Rechtsanwälte GmbH since 2012. He is also a Lecturer at the University of Vienna, contributing to academic and professional development in corporate and capital markets law.
Before joining EY Law, he was Partner at an international business law firm (2010–2012), following several years as an associate (2006–2010) focusing on transactional and capital markets work. From 2004 to 2006, he served as Head of Office of the Austrian Takeover Commission, overseeing the enforcement of takeover regulation and supervising complex public offers. Earlier in his career, he worked as a lawyer at the Austrian Takeover Commission (1999–2000), gaining foundational insight into listed company governance and regulatory procedure.
From 2001 to 2003, Mario was Assistant Professor at the Institute of Commercial Law at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, further strengthening his academic grounding in corporate and commercial law.
He holds a Mag. iur. (1999) and Dr. iur. (2002) from the University of Vienna, and completed the European Master in Law and Economics (EMLE) in 2004 at the Universities of Hamburg and Bologna, adding a comparative economic perspective to his transactional and regulatory practice.
