Marc Willems KC is a leading Personal injury and Clinical Negligence silk who has appeared in the Court of Appeal, The House of Lords, the Supreme Court and the Privy Council as well as regularly in the High Court representing Claimants and Defendants. Marc has established himself as an expert in TBI, Spinal injury and Amputation cases.
He has overseas experience litigating on Saint Helena and has had clients in Greece, Latvia, Poland and France.
His practice has concentrated on very significant brain and physical injuries and having won in the Supreme Court in Dunhill v Burgin is very familiar with issues relating to capacity to litigate and manage property and affairs. He has settled cases to the value of over £125M in the last 2 years and is involved in many settlement meetings and mediations as a way of compromising difficult litigation.
Marc has also, particularly since taking silk, very significant experience and expertise in Coroner’s inquests having appeared for interested persons such as families and Chief Constables but also many times as Counsel to the Inquest.
He has a busy practice and is reported in 48 cases on Westlaw
Marc is a member of the PIBA Executive Committee and he chairs the Manchester Serious PI and Clin Neg Court Users committee , a body of senior solicitors and Counsel made up of both Claimant and Defendant practitioners who liaise with the local Judges and DCJ to improve the management of litigation in Manchester.
