He has advised on thousands of IT, cloud computing, personal data, cybersecurity, e-commerce, and artificial intelligence projects. Over 25 years, he has been the lead lawyer on the largest IT project in Poland and Central Europe.

Maciej has represented clients in investment, construction, technology, patent, and copyright disputes worth billions of dollars before Polish common courts and the Polish Supreme Court, arbitration courts and international arbitration tribunals, including investment arbitrations. He serves as an arbitrator of the Arbitration Court at the Polish Chamber of Commerce.

Clients often seek his assistance in strategic projects across different legal areas, valuing his corporate advisory experience, project management skills, and multi-level process thinking.

As an expert of the European Commission on Cloud Computing Contracts and a Working Party Article 29 expert on data transfers (2014), Maciej contributed to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), specifically in Articles 20, 28.9, and 82.1 (data portability, liability of processors, electronic form of data processing agreements). He is a supporting expert of the European Data Protection Board, a Scientific Council Member of the Institute of Data Protection Law at the University of Economics and Human Sciences in Warsaw.

Career

Before founding GP Partners (2017), Maciej established and led the Polish office of the international law firm Bird & Bird (2008-2016), briefly collaborated with a Polish IT law firm Maruta Wachta (2016), and previously worked at KPMG and the independent Polish law firm M. Furtek & Partners. He began his legal career in 1994, graduated in 1997, and has been an attorney-at-law since 2000. In 2018, he obtained CIPP-E/IAPP certification (Certified International Privacy Professional – Europe, International Association of Privacy Professionals).

Personal

Outside of his professional career, Maciej is a devoted husband and father, a fan of snowboarding and electronic music, and the owner of two Spanish Mastiffs. His interests include science fiction, space exploration, science, spirituality, and biohacking.
