M is chair of Taft’s Domestic Relations practice. They serve as a creative advocate for clients facing challenging family situations, especially in the areas of divorce, child custody, family law appeals, and issues involving LGBTQ+ families.

Many of their divorce clients are business owners, public figures, professional athletes, entrepreneurs, C-suite executives, and medical and legal professionals and their families. Often, these clients are facing divorces involving high and ultra-high net worth estates with closely-held businesses and family partnerships, intergenerational wealth and trusts, difficult valuation issues, or fraud and concealed assets.

In addition, parents navigating the complexities of high-conflict custody cases, centering on allegations of abuse, alienation, or serious mental illness, seek m out as seasoned litigation counsel for trial and motion practice.

They are also among the few family law attorneys who have repeatedly argued cases before Minnesota's appellate courts - including multiple precedent-setting cases before Minnesota’s Supreme Court - on issues ranging from spousal maintenance to custody, to property valuation and division.

M regularly serves as an adjunct professor, teaching the next generation of family law attorneys; serves as faculty at continuing education seminars for judges, lawyers, and mediators; and authors articles, columns, and other resources for family law attorneys, including Minnesota Family Law, the state’s definitive practice guide on divorce, child custody, and family law.
