Luisa Acedo assists major international clients and their local subsidiaries, Venezuelan companies and individuals with their corporate needs, including foreign investment and exchange controls. She leads the due diligence teams in M&As, and is a key member of the international sanctions team. A specialist in corporations, she works in the design and implementation of corporate structures, carefully integrated from the point of view of compatibility, jurisdiction and governance issues.
Education: Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (Lawyer, “summa cum laude”, 1981). Professor of Contemporary International History at Universidad Metropolitana (1998-2006).
Author of several articles on corporation law, published by the Academia de Ciencias Políticas y Sociales; and co-author of two books on the same subject; and of articles on insurance law, securities transactions, arbitration and project financing. The book, “La Sociedad Anónima”, written with Manuel Acedo Mendoza (first edition Caracas 1985, reprinted in 1991, 1996, 2000), became a text book for Corporate Law, is used at important Venezuelan universities, and has been quoted by other authors, and in court decisions, among them by the Supreme Tribunal of Justice. Author of a series of short biographies of contemporary Venezuelan personalities, published by Universidad Metropolitana, Caracas, in 1998 and 1999.
