Luis Barragán is Founding Partner and Managing Director of BRAB Abogados, S.C. Since co-founding the firm in 2016, he has led its strategic, financial and operational direction, being responsible for the firm's institutional growth, partner governance and the evolution of its service model. He heads the corporate and corporate governance practices, leading the representation of strategic accounts in corporate, contractual and growth transactions, and also leads the firm's business development practice and its relationships with key clients. Earlier in his tenure at the firm, he was the partner in charge of the corporate immigration and data protection practices.

Before founding BRAB Abogados, Luis practiced at Castillo Ochoa Abogados in Guadalajara (2013–2016), where he worked as a direct associate to the founding partner with a focus on civil and commercial litigation, and headed the firm's corporate law area, providing corporate support to clients originating primarily from the litigation practice. He previously trained at Vázquez Aldana Hernández Gómez (VAHG) in corporate law, public brokerage and foreign investment matters, at Medina Abogados in insurance litigation, and at Notary Public Office No. 20 of Guadalajara.

Luis Barragán has led the following representative matters over the past year. Client identities are withheld for confidentiality.

Real estate development. He leads the integral legal structuring of the most valuable real estate development in Guadalajara, a residential, office, retail and services project representing an investment in excess of MXN 5 billion, covering the holding structure, the land contribution, the financing framework and the project's contractual architecture.

Corporate restructuring. He directed the reorganisation of an industrial group formed by more than 16 entities, redesigning its ownership chain, governance bodies and intercompany arrangements to support the group's growth and succession plans.

Joint venture. He is negotiating the corporate restructuring and joint venture of three companies belonging to a well known media production group, aligning the shareholders on valuation, control and exit mechanics.

Succession planning. He advised a business family on the creation of a succession trust over assets exceeding MXN 150 million, structuring the transfer of ownership across generations while preserving management control.

With more than a decade of professional practice, his work focuses on corporate and company law, corporate governance, M&A and corporate restructurings, commercial contracts, trusts and estate planning structures, real estate and commercial litigation.

His representative experience includes multi entity corporate restructurings with a cross border Mexico–United States component; investment, acquisition and shareholder separation transactions within privately held business groups; the structuring and negotiation of distribution agreements with European multinational groups; ongoing counsel to boards of directors, including serving as Board Secretary and designing corporate governance protocols; the structuring of trusts and wealth planning vehicles for family groups and real estate transactions; and the implementation of data protection compliance programs under Mexican law.

Prior to founding BRAB Abogados in 2016, he practiced at Castillo Ochoa Abogados in Guadalajara, where he worked in civil and commercial litigation and headed the corporate law area, and previously trained at Vázquez Aldana Hernández Gómez (VAHG) in corporate law, public brokerage and foreign investment matters.

Luis advises national and multinational business groups across a broad range of industries. His sector experience includes privately held and family owned business groups, where he regularly advises on corporate reorganizations, shareholder matters and wealth planning structures; cross border operations between Mexico and the United States, particularly multi entity corporate restructurings; and consumer and distribution businesses, having structured and negotiated distribution agreements with European multinational groups.

He also has significant experience in the real estate sector, advising on trusts and investment vehicles for real estate transactions, as well as in regulated areas such as data protection compliance under Mexican law and corporate immigration matters for companies relocating foreign personnel to Mexico. His practice is distinguished by long term relationships with clients in diverse sectors, integrating preventive legal counsel with the day to day operation of their businesses and supporting them through growth, consolidation and reorganization projects.
