Luis Alberto Aziz Checa

Luis Alberto is Founding Partner of Aziz & Kaye Business Law, a law firm specialized in solving legal issues of national and international companies, in a personalized and practical way, with a comprehensive vision and a business approach.

His areas of specialization: Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), Antitrust, Corporate law and Arbitration.

Luis Alberto has a significant trajectory that has allowed him to collaborate in different projects. He was founding partner of SAI Derecho & Economía, where he remained for 19 years.

He was part of the legal team during the negotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement. He also founded the Arbitration Center of México (CAM, for its acronym in Spanish) and Aklara (design and execution of auctions and competitive bids). He is currently a board member in public and private companies.

He teaches courses on economic competition at several universities in Mexico.

He has been recognized by Chambers Magazine, Legal 500, LACCA, Best Lawyers, The Lawyer Network, the Expert Guides and Latin Lawyers as one of the best lawyers in Mexico.

Luis Alberto is clear that contributing to the community as a professional is a fundamental part of his daily life, which is why in his pro bono work over the last 25 years, he has been president of the JUCONI Foundation, whose mission is to prevent and eradicate violence in the family.

He received the 2017 “Robert Hersztein” Pro Bono Lifetime Achievement Medal from the “Appleseed” Foundation. In 2018 he received from the Mexican Government the National Award of Voluntary and Solidarity Action.

In his practice, he has developed extensive experience in legal and business advice to Mexican and multinational companies, as well as in the design and execution of several global operations both in Mexico and in other countries, especially the USA.

In antitrust matters, he has advised leading companies in the notification of global and domestic mergers; and in the defense of companies in investigations initiated for antitrust practices in various sectors.
